Analyzing the Pictures in Our Mind of our Ideal Mate
By Bill Scalzitti, The Coach for Romance
Society sets many standards for the things we believe in, think about, and hold important in life. Each of us has standards for our ideal partner. These standards which I like to call pictures are what we have constructed from the values and standards of our society. The question is “Are these pictures really what we choose and really what will make us happy?”
Choosing your desired outcome
Choosing your desired outcomes sounds deceptively easy. It actually involves some work on your part. Before we talk about what’s required, I would like to offer an analogy about the singles world called “visiting a used-car lot”. You walk onto a used-car lot and see a beautiful black Cadillac, you walk over to it and it has 300,000 miles on it. Next you see a beautiful red Audi that has a plaid interior, then a beautiful Jeep that’s painted green with white polka dots. Do you get what I’m illustrating? We are like used cars. We are what we are - there are no brand-new flawless models for you to choose your list of options. So we must realize that everyone comes with certain baggage and we have to analyze how much baggage we are willing to accept.
One way to begin the process of finding the mate you require is called visualization. You need to visualize the person you would like to attract. In doing this I suggest that you be realistic. Start by visualizing what the person would look like, and how they would be dressed, what they would say, how old would they be, where they live, what they do for living, if they have children, and so on. This doesn’t mean that you’re locked in to this person. This is a process that allows you to put out into the universe positive vibrations about the person you would like in your life, it also is a beginning process for you to let go of the old pictures that have been holding you back.
But the most important thing we have to start on today is to realize that when you answer these questions for yourself, I want you to think in terms of now. And I also want you to think in terms of, are these truly your beliefs, or are they the beliefs of your parents, your teachers, your friends, your religious leaders, television, movies, etc.? So when we answer these questions I want you to ask yourself, “Are these truly my thoughts?” And if not, then I want you to take the time to rethink them, and come up with what you really believe about these subjects. Otherwise, you’re going to have false values.
We wish you lots of happiness in your romantic journey and look forward to hearing about your “new vibrations” and fantastic results.
